As a Entrepeneur, one of the greatest joys is to have individuals who want you to service them. Even sweeter is to have a past client reach out to you. That action tells you that (1) you have earned their trust and (2) you provided them with a product they were pleased with. When Lenny reached out to me mid March, I got goose bumps because we have history.
Lenny and I attended the same high school: the great Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. I am a few years younger than him but I remember the cool, city-acting guy from Brooklyn, New York. I am not sure if we ever had any conversations while we attended thigh school but his style was one you would never forget. SMOOTH! He went on to matriculate at Claflin University, receiving two college degrees in 3 years (Bachelors in Marketing Administration & Masters in Business Administration). Over the years after leaving OW, he married a childhood friend of mine. I will never forget the day she called me & they invited me into their home to capture images of the new family addition. As a Photographer, moments like that are where you put heavy emphasis on your gift to ensure you tell the story. For years to come, I was called back to further photograph the LAWRENCE FAMILY. Heck, I even shot his 40th Birthday party. Very cool but when I spoke to Lenny only (no wife or son) this time, the stakes were raised.
Instead of traveling out of town, going to eat at his favorite restaurant (Hyman’s) or even planning a big celebration with friends, Mr. Lawrence decided to treat himself with a session to capture the great memories into Chapter 49 of his life. WHOAH! I take no sessions for granted and this really made me smile. This Dude is veryyyy popular and well connected. Granted I had snapped many memories of his son’s parties, he could have called anyone to make his vision come true. I appreciate his loyalty. I am not surprised one bit he has been gainfully employed with the in-home health profession and the family business for many years. But our moment in the sun was about HIM. Not the family. Not the clients he services. Not even the persons he has known for 48+ years. So, off we went …
We settled in for a few serious moments, which gave him a chance to reflect on past ups and his downs.
We concluded the session with some NEW YORK FLAVOR in SOUTH CAROLINA.
I must say the years have been favorable to Lenny. Not only is he a successful college graduate (Cum Laude & Magna Cum Laude), a family man and a lover of fashion, he is a child of God. During our session, he expressed how all of his life he wanted to be the driver of his own destination. With a few tricks up his sleeve and experience on his side, I think 2021 is going to be one we see greater things from him. He has heard, “He’s never going to finish high school!” … “He’s going to jail before his 21st birthday!” … “He won’t live pass 25 years old!” My money is on Leonard Dwight (or simply Lenny) will contine to rise AGAINST ALL ODDS.
I guess this is where I get off. Snap at you later. BE EZ. PEACE!!! #moseawell #clickclique #beEZpeace
